Persian couplet, Emperor name and titles (Sikka mubarak Badshah ghazi, Aziz-ud-din Muhammad, 'Alamgir = The auspicious coin of the Victorious Emperor, Chosen of the faith of Muhammad, 'Alamgir), fixed date (1172) above. Beaded border.

Reverse:
Persian legend, mint name and regnal year (Zarb Arkat sanat 6 julus maimanat manus = Struck at Arcot in the 6 year of his reign of tranquil prosperity), closed lotus mark near the centre. Beaded border.
