Obverse:
Young head of Queen Victoria to left, hair bound with a double fillet, raised W.W. on truncation of neck, divided legend around (VICTORIA / QUEEN), beaded border.

Reverse:
Denomination in two languages in centre, in English in two lines above (ONE RUPEE) and in Persian below (Yek Rupiya = One Rupee), within laurel wreath tied with ribbon below. Shaded lines on ribbon bow. Legend around (EAST INDIA COMPANY), date (1840) between two rosettes at bottom. Beaded border.
