Obverse: Young head of Queen Victoria to left, hair bound with a double fillet, continous legend above (VICTORIA QUEEN), toothed border.
Reverse: Denomination in two languages in centre, in English in two lines above (ONE RUPEE) and in Persian below (Yek Rupiya = One Rupee), within laurel wreath tied with ribbon below. Legend around (EAST INDIA COMPANY), date (1840) between two rosettes at bottom, a dot after the date, toothed border.
