Obverse:
Persian legend. In centre in a plain square the Shahada, or Kalima-e-Tayyab, (from top to bottom: La Ilah illa Allah / Mohammad Rasul Allah = (There is) no god but Allah (and) Muhammad (is the) Messenger (of) Allah). In the margins the names of the four Caliphs with attributes, partially visible (clockwise, starting at left: Umar al-Farooq / Uthman al-Affan / Ali al-Murtada / Abu Bakr al-Sidiq = Omar the discriminator between right and wrong / Osman son of Affan / Alì the pleasing to God / Abu Bakr the faithful witness).

Reverse:
Persian legend. In centre in a plain square the Ruler's name, nasab, title and pius wish (from top to bottom: Shah Islam ibn / Sultan Shah / Sher / khallad Allah Mulkahu = Islam Shah, son of Sher Shah, Sultan. May Allah perpetuate his reign), at botton in the square the Ruler's name in Nagari, (Sri Islam Shah). The date (956) is at bottom left in the square. The margins are off the flan, the legend should be: at bottom the Mint name (Zarb Agra = Struck at Agra) – at left the Ruler's nasab (al-Sultan Ibn al-Sultan =The Sultan, Son of the Sultan) – at top the Ruler's laqab ( Jalal al-Dunya = Glory of the World) – at right the Ruler's laqab and kunyah (wa Din Abu al-Muzaffar = and (the) Religion, Father of the Conqueror).
