Obverse:
Persian legend. In centre in a plain square the Shahada, or Kalima-e-Tayyab, (from top to bottom: La ilah illa Allah / Mohammed Rasul Allah = (There is) no god but Allah (and) Muhammad (is the) Messenger (of) Allah). In the margins the names of the four Caliphs, partially visible, (clockwise, starting at left: Umar (ibn) Khattab / Aba Bakr (al-) Sadiq / Ali / Uthman = Omar (son of) Khattab, Abu Bakr (the) faithful witness, Alì, Osman).

Reverse:
Persian legend. In centre in a plain square the Ruler's name, nasab, title and pius wish (from top to bottom: Bahadur Shah ibn / Muhammad Shah Ghazi / khallad Allah Mulkahu wa Sultanahu = King Bahadur son of King Muhammad, Warrior against the infidels, may Allah perpetuate his reign and his sultanate), at botton in the square the Ruler's name in Nagari (Sri Bahadur Shahi). In the margins the Ruler's laqab and kunyah, partially visible, (Ghiyath al-Dunya wa'l Din abu 'l Muzaffar = Succor of the World and the Religion, Father of the Victorius). The date (966) is in the margin left.
