Obverse: Persian legend. Couplet with the Ruler's name and titles (from bottom to top: [Bar] haft kishwar sikka / [(sayah) fa]zl hami din zad Badshah / [llah] Muhammad Sha[h] ‘A[lam] = Struck coin through the seven climes, (the shadow) of the divine favour, Shah Alam, the Emperor, the defender of the Faith of Mohammed). Digit – 7 – above the bottom line at right.
Reverse: Persian legend. Mint name and Julus formula (from bottom to top: Sanat 36 julus maimanat manus / [Za]rb Ko[s]i, [Sri] = Struck at Kosi, (in the) year 36 (of his) reign associated with prosperity). Mint mark (flower-star) above the bottom line at left. Devanagari character SRI following the mint name (off the flan).
