Obverse: Persian legend. Amir's name and title in centre (from bottom to top: Amir Habibullah = Habibullah, the Amir), date (1347) below, Amir's titles around (from top, clockwise: – khadim Din Rasul Allah = Messenger of Allah, Servant of Religion). Open wreath around tied with ribbon below, five-pointed star at top.
Reverse: Mosque with Mihrab and Minbar (1) inside in centre, two flags on the sides, all within a circular sun-brust, open wreath around tied with ribbon below, denomination at top (Yak Rupya = One Rupee).
(1) The emblem of Afghanistan. The Mihrab is a semicircular niche in the wall of a mosque that indicates the Mecca. The Minbar is the elevated reading desk or pulpit.
