Obverse: Crowned bust of Queen Victoria to left, wearning a richly ornamented robe. Divided English legend around: Victoria's name with title (VICTORIA / EMPRESS). Beaded border.
Reverse: Persian legend in centre within linear cirlce. Mangal Singh's name with titles (from top to bottom: Maharao Raja / Sawai Mangal / Singh Bahadur), date expressed in the Christian Era at bottom (1877). English legend around: Denomination above (ONE RUPEE) and Country's name below (ALWAR STATE). A branch (jhar) with 15 leaves at either side dividing the legend. Beaded border.
