Couplet with the Ruler's name and titles (from bottom to top: Bajud wa Karam Sikkah / dar Jehan Muhammad Ali zad Bad / shah Zeman = With Grace and Benevolence struck coin in the world, Muhammad Ali, Emperor of the Age). Date (1253) above the bottom line in centre. Mint mark 29 below the top line at right and 30 below the bottom line at left. Ornaments of dots in field.

Shah's arms in centre: a fish between two human figures, bare-headed, standing on a scroll, supporting a crown with one hand and holding a fly whisk in the other. Numeral 1 above the fish. Persian legend around: Country name, Mint name with epithet and Julus formula (clockwise, starting at bottom left: Zarb Suba Awadh Bait es-Sultanat Lakhnau sanah ahd julus maimanat manus = Struck in the Province of Awadh, at the House of the Sultanate, Lucknow, (in the) First year (of his) reign associated with prosperity).
