Afghanistan – Durrani Dynasty – Shah Zaman (AH 1207-1216 / AD 1793-1801). Rupee AH 1312 // 1312 (sic!). Mint: Herat (Dar-us-Saltanat), Silver (ø 21 mm – w. 11.39 g.). Edge: plain. A-3108, KM 388. Whitehead type 847-848.

Obverse:
Persian legend. Couplet with the Ruler's name and titles (from bottom to top: Sikka zad bar sim zar / Zaman Shah yamin wa yasari / bi-hokam Ilahi = Struck coin on silver and gold by the Divine command, Shah Zaman, right hand and left hand (of the State)). The date (1312) is below the top line at left.

Reverse:
Persian legend. Within a linear circle the Mint name with epithet (From top to bottom: Zarb Hirat Dar-us-Saltanat = Struck at Herat, the Seat of Sovereignty). The date (1212) is above the S of the word Sultanat, in the central line at right. Dotted field. Border of dots.

Note:
Date on the coin AH 1312 on both sides, error for AH 1212 (1797/8 AD).
