Rupee 1840 (1844-1845). 35 berries. Mint: Calcutta (crescent in relief), Silver (ø 31.15 mm – w. 11.56 g.). Edge: grained. Pridmore 53. KM 457.10.
Obverse: Young head of Queen Victoria to left, hair bound with a double fillet, continous legend above (VICTORIA QUEEN), toothed border.
Reverse: Denomination in two languages in centre, in English in two lines above (ONE RUPEE) and in Persian below (Yek Rupiya = One Rupee), within laurel wreath tied with ribbon below. Legend around (EAST INDIA COMPANY), date (1840) between two rosettes at bottom, a dot after the date. Minute crescent in relief as privy mark on the ribbon bow, on the left. Toothedd border.
