Obverse:
Persian legend. Couplet with the names of the King and the Queen (from top to bottom: Shah / Shiva Singh / Sikkah / Zad Cho Mihr / hokam Begum Pramatheswari / Shah = Shah Shiva Singh struck coin like the Sun by order of Begum (2) Pramathesvari Shah).

Reverse:
Persian legend. Mint name and Julus formula (from bottom to top: Zarb Gurgaon / Sanah 15 Julus / Maimanat Manus = struck at Gargaon, (in the) year 15 (of his) reign associated with prosperity). Date (1651) at bottom right. Winged Lion to rihgt at bottom left.


Note:
A hoard with 103 square rupees dated SE 1651 was found in 1903 near Gargaon.

(2) Honorific: a Muslim woman of high rank in India or Pakistan, could also mean Queen.

Metallographic analysis:
Ag 97 % / Cu 3 %
(Examination performed using an energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (EDXRF), model Fischersope XAN-FD, on the coin’s surface (ca 100 microns depth) without any mechanical preparation).
