Nepal – Tribhuvan Bir Bikram (first reign, VS 1968-2007 / AD 1911-1950). Rupee VS 1989 (AD 1932). Mint: (Kathmandu), Silver (ø 29 mm – w. 11.02 g.). Edge: grained. Ramesh TR41, KM 723.

Obverse:
Small Trisul (Trident of Shiva) enclosed in a circle in centre, Nepali legend around (Sri Tribhuvan Bir Bikram Shah Deva = Maharaja’s name) enclosed by a square with an opening in the middle of each side (except on top) wherefrom two closed and curved loops extend in opposite directions toward the corners of the square. Underneath the loops to right and left are found Buddhist symbols (Discus, Flower, Conch-Shell, Club), on top script (Sri Sri) between Crescent and Sun, at bottom divided Bikram Samvat date (19 - 89). An arc with a bead connects the pairs of curved loops. Toothed border.

Reverse:
The Khadga (Sword of Devi Bhavani) flanked by garland with script (Sri Bhavani = Hindu goddess) on each side in central area and denomination (Ek Rupaya Nepala = One Rupee of Nepal) in two lines below within inner circle. Eight characters (Sri Sri Sri Gorakha Natha = The patron deity of the Gorkhas) in design around. Toothed border.
