Obverse: Persian legend. Ruler's name and titles (from bottom to top: [be-zar] zad sikkah / [Sa]hib Qiran (Alamgir) / [Aziz ud-Din sani] = struck coin on gold, Aziz ud-Din Alamgir, the Second Lord of the Fortunate Conjunction of the Planets). Date ([1]171) below the top line at left.
Reverse: Persian legend. Mint name and Julus formula (from bottom to top: Balwantnagar Zarb / sanat 5 julus / maimanat [manus] = Struck at Balwantnagar (in the) year 5 (of his) reign associated with prosperity). Mint marks in field.
Note: Jhansi (Balwantnagar) was under the Peshwa's Governors until 1761.
