Rupee AH 1337 (AD 1919), Mint: (Kabul), Silver (ø 25 mm – w. 9.15 g.). Edge: grained. Hamidi 30G, KM 867.
Obverse: Persian legend. Amir's name and title in centre (from bottom to top: Amir / Amanullah = Amanullah, the Amir), date (1337) below, open wreath around tied with ribbon below, small five-pointed star at top.
Reverse: Mosque with Mihrab and Minbar (1) inside in centre, two flags on the sides, hexagram star (Seal of Salomon) below, Karakul hat (2) above, all within a circular sun-brust, open wreath around tied with ribbon below, denomination at top (Yak Rupya = One Rupee).
Note: Small legend on obverse and hexagram star type. Two dots over the digit seven of the date.
(1) The emblem of Afghanistan. The Mihrab is a semicircular niche in the wall of a mosque that indicates the Mecca. The Minbar is the elevated reading desk or pulpit. (2) The Amir's full-dress uniform hat, with badge and/or plume, made from the wool of a Qaraqul sheep. A symbol of the Amir's power and authority, like a royal crown.
