Persian legend. Couplet with the Ruler's name and titles (from bottom to top: Sikkah Sah[ib] Q[ira]ni / zad 'z Ta'id Hami [din] / [I]lah Muhammad Sh[ah] ‘A[lam Bad]shah = the defender of the Faith of Mohammed, Shah 'Alam, Emperor, struck coin appropriate to a Sahib-i Qiran (*) by the grace of God). Date (xx17) below the top line at left. Mint marks in field.

Reverse:
Persian legend. Mint name and Julus formula (from bottom to top: Ahmadnagar Farruk[habad] zarb / sanat 39 julu[s] / maimanat [manus] = struck at Ahmadnagar Farrukhabad, (in the) year 39 (of his) reign associated with prosperity). Mint marks in field.

Mr Brown gives the following translation of the couplet: .Struck coin like the Sahib-i Qiran by the help of God.
