Obverse:
Persian legend. Couplet with the Ruler's name and titles (from bottom to top: [Zad bar Haft] Kish[war] Sikkah / [Sayah Faz]l ‘Alam Badshah / Shah [llah Hami din] = Struck coin through the seven climes, the shadow of the divine favour, Shah Alam, the Emperor, the defender of the Faith [of Mohammed]). Date (1216) at bottom right. Mint marks: Ball and Sword (above the bottom line at right).

Reverse:
Persian legend. Mint name and Julus formula (from bottom to top: [Allahabad zar]b / sanat 26 julus / maimanat manus = struck at Allahabad, (in the) year 26 (of his) reign associated with prosperity). Mint mark: Fish (above the bottom line at right).

Note:
The Nawab of Awadh, Sa’adat Ali Khan (AD 1798-1814), ceded Rohilkhand, with the districts of Allahabad and Kora, to the East India Company by the treaty of November 10, 1801.
