Obverse:
Persian legend. Couplet with the Ruler's name and titles ( = Struck coin in Gold and Silver by the Grace of the Great and Almighty God. Ghazi-ud-Din Haidar, of lofty lineage, King of the World). Date (1235) above the bottom line at right.

Reverse:
Arms of Awadh in centre: two Fishes facing one another and support a dagger (katar) surmounted by a Crown, a Tiger on either side with head turned autwards and holding a pennant figures as supporter. A scroll beneath. Persian legend around: Country name, Mint name with epithet and Julus formula (clockwise: Suba Awadh zarb (at bottom) / manus (at left) / maimanat, dar al-Amar[et Lakhnau] (at top) / julus (at right) / sanah Ahd (in centre, between the fishes) = Struck in the Province of Awadh, at the Seat of Governorship, Lucknow, (in the) First year (of his) reign associated with prosperity).
